about

Hope for the Holidays

Hope for the Holidays is a way for companies and individuals to give the gift of hope. Last year, this program supported more than 1,300 children. Approximately 90% of them were sponsored by an individual or corporation and the remaining 'un-sponsored' families received assistance from cash donations.

While each child's story is unique, they all share the desire to see their holiday wishes come true. There are three ways to help:

"Providing Christmas gifts is near and dear to Bradens heart. We enjoy participating in the toy drive and are grateful to be a part of giving joy!"

"It’s so hard to put into words what Hope for the Holidays means to the families I serve. I wish every donor could see what I see. From the minute they open their door to receive their gift, the difference this program makes becomes obvious. The lines of worry and stress are replaced with hope and happiness and tears of gratitude are shed. Plans to give back when they are in a better position are discussed and shared. “Delivery Day” is my favorite day of the year. It’s an experience I’m honored to have, every year; thanks to Firefly and the generous donors in our community."

"Hope for the Holidays brings smiles to the faces of my clients who may struggle this time of year. For many, gifts from generous donors are all that they will receive during the holiday season. It fills my heart with joy to bring them happiness and it lets them know that people care about them, and they are valued. What may seem like a small, insignificant gesture brings a tremendous amount of joy and love for others. Simply put, they feel loved!"

Lindsey Hess, Case Manager, Older Youth Services

"So many of the kids we serve never believed they would ever be going to college. It's a truly humbling experience to see their faces when they show me their college acceptance letters. They start to realize at that point, that they have value and they can be more than just a foster care kid.”

Sharan Abdullah, Case Manager, Older Youth Services

"Hope for the Holidays and the donors' extreme generosity is so crucial to making the holidays a little brighter for the families that we serve. For most of these children, they wouldn’t have anything to open without our donors. So, thank you! Your gift is making the holiday season brighter and the world a better place."
